Antique Medical Pump / Ear Syringe - S. Maw Son & Thompson, London - Brass - circa 1880
This is a brass pump made by S Maw and Son of London, a company who predominately manufactured pharmaceutical and medical equipment
Therefore, it is likely that this pump was a medical instrument or perhaps due to its size, a veterinary instrument
Not sure exactly what this was used as, but ….
One example : Vintage/antique Maw Son & Thompson Brass Ear Syringe
Another example : In the late 1700s and into the early 1800s the resusitator was part of the standard medical kit in Europe
Used to resustitate drowning victims and for all sorts of other medical maladies tobacco smoke was pumped or blown into the rectum
