Stanley #88 Clapboard Siding Marker 1884-1935

For installation of wood siding. Carpenters will use 2 or 3 of these which will secure the clapboard until it is nailed. The gauge slips under the siding board below, and locks into place to hold the current board. The gauge handle moves in both directions & when tilted, a spur protrudes to mark the board for proper placement.
Use of the #88 Clapboard Measuring Tool is officially declared a lost art!
