This is a very well-made African axe with a dense, hard wood shaft, made from what appears to be ebony wood
The axe is 21” in length, with a sharp 13” iron axe head
This axe has an elegant form and would display well
A late 19th century, East African axe from Tanzania at the time of German rule,
The 4¾ inch  has a long hand forged iron blade with a rounded 2 inch edge, the back spike 4 inches long
Set into a decoratively carved wooden handle with some wire wrapping, 21 inches long

In very good condition, a Tanzanian (African) tribal axe, the ebony shank well carved at top
