Antique Paris Wire Gauge Double Decimetre Folding Jeweler Watchmaker Tool
Unusual antique folding watchmaker's or jeweler's measuring gauge marked “DOUBLE DECIMETRE.” Features finely graduated metric scales and a series of stepped gauge openings for measuring small wire and components. Steel construction with pivoting/folding arms. Shows normal age, oxidation, staining and wear consistent with an antique precision tool. No maker's name has been located. An interesting early watchmaker, jeweler, machinist or precision-tool collectible.
I would date it approximately late 19th to early 20th century, perhaps c. 1880–1920. I would describe the origin as probably European.
The unusual folding construction and multiple scales make it much more interesting than an ordinary antique ruler.
