Lot of 5 KLM Delft Blue Miniature Houses - BOLS #31, #32, #39, #59 & #69

Excellent condition with no chips cracks or breaks.

Since 1952, KLM has given first-class passengers a miniature Delft Blue pottery house depicting a historically or architecturally significant Dutch building.

New editions came out on and off for years until 1994, KLM’s 75th anniversary, when the airline commissioned a bonus batch so the collection’s size matched its age. Since then, a new design is released every year on October 7, KLM’s anniversary, keeping the count in step with the airline’s age.  As of the most recent addition, the collection stands at 105 houses, with the 105th being a replica of ‘Het huis aan de drie grachten,’ a national monument in Amsterdam.

What they depict — They’re not all literally houses — some depict buildings of historical or architectural interest, like the Heineken brewery and KLM’s former headquarters.  The miniatures usually stand around 3 to 4 inches tall.

Production — They were originally made by Royal Goedewaagen in Gouda, though production later shifted to Taiwan while preserving the traditional Delft technique.

How were these given out — Since 1994, they’ve been given exclusively to World Business Class passengers on long-haul flights.
