Starrett Master Precision Level 199 – 15 Inch Machinery Leveling Tool with Cast Iron Base
The Starrett 199 Master Precision Level provides the ability to ensure a level machine setup, which in turn increases the efficiency of modern, high speed machinery. Master Precision Level, 15" (380mm).
2 Vials Horizontal and Vertical, Graduated 10 Second Accuracy
This precision level has a graduation of 1/2 thousandth (0.0005) of an inch per foot, or 0.04mm per meter with 10 second accuracy.
Could be a 199Z --- The "Z" designation on a Starrett level generally indicates a Ground Vial vs a bent tube vial. Ground vials provide more accuracy (smoother response).  However I don't know that the 199 came with anything but a ground vial. In the context of a Starrett 199 dial indicator, a "ground vial" refers to the type of glass vial used in the indicator's construction. The Starrett 199 dial indicator is a precision measuring instrument often used in machining and manufacturing to measure small linear distances or variations with high accuracy.
The "ground vial" in this context typically means that the glass vial used for the indicator's dial face has been ground and polished to very precise specifications to ensure accuracy and repeatability in the measurements. This level of precision is essential for achieving accurate and reliable readings when using the dial indicator.
The term "ground vial" emphasizes the quality and precision of the glass vial used in the indicator, which contributes to the overall accuracy of the instrument. It's a common feature in high-quality dial indicators like those produced by Starrett.
